Details, Details [01 Oct 2009|02:07pm]
Fine, you shall get details!

Living in Cedar Rapids, IA for a few months now. Still as boring as ever! Been working with Schwan's for a little over a month now. I'm doing route sales for them. It's hard work and long hours, but I enjoy it.

An interesting turn of events. [08 Jul 2009|03:55pm]
[ mood | pensive ]

As always, life throws things at you to make things just that much more interesting. Got a call from my mom this morning. She found out last night that my biological father, Scott Schwichtenberg, passed away on Friday. I feel pretty odd about it because I haven't seen him since I was 2 years old and don't have any memories of him. Me(and Matt), my mom, and my sister are going to be going to the service this Friday. Consequently I doubt I'll be up for doing anything that night.

I'm not quite sure what to expect when we go there. I won't know anyone, and I don't know how his current family is going to react seeing us there. I hope all will go well, but I have a feeling that it won't be all easy going.

Like I said, don't worry about me. I'll be fine. I don't really feel sad or down about this, just odd.

Stuff we're not taking [08 Jul 2009|02:10pm]
[ mood | rushed ]

Alright folks, here's the scoop. There are a few things that we're not going to be able to take with us but I don't want to just throw away. If you're interested, let me know and we can make arrangements to have it picked up. They're free unless you're feeling generous ;}

2x window air conditioners. One of them needs to be recharged, the other works beautifully.

coffee table as pictured below(random crap not included)

older dresser (6 drawers, 3 on each side, approx 3 feet tall by 6 feet wide)

round black bar table (top is about 3 feet in diameter.) One non-matching chair for it.

older stereo cd player doesn't work. I used it for FM radio and had my computer plugged into it. AIWA cx-na555 Remote has been missing for 5 years now.

As far as I know this is it, but I will make another post as necessary. The best way to get a hold me is call me. 312-376-6615.

The time gets closer... [07 Jul 2009|09:17am]
[ mood | tired ]

Hey everyone. The time is getting closer for the big move(Saturday) and I wanted to see who would be interested in getting together one last time before we head off. Was thinking about going out for a drink or two, maybe dinner, not sure. I know that Matt and I need to keep it relatively inexpensive cause all the money we have is going toward the move! If you're interested either leave a comment here or email me slackcub@gmail.com.

On the bright side. [19 Jun 2009|07:10pm]
In Cedar Rapids right now looking for a job. On my travels I saw something that made me realize it's not that bad here... There's a Hamburger Mary's here :)

A big change... [10 Jun 2009|01:43pm]
You may have seen it in Matt [info]mattpup's journal, but I just wanted to say it here as well. Looks like it's time to move on for the two of us. Things are not working here in Chicago. I haven't been able to find a job, we're being forced to move in a little over a month, and my unemployment will be ending soon. In about a month or so we will be moving to Cedar Rapids in with his family so we can get back on our feet.

This is very hard for me. I have spent the last 7 years here in Chicago trying to make it. I have spent countless days figuring out who I am and what I need to do to survive. I thought I had figured that out last year when I got the job with Fastenal and Matt moved in. But it just wasn't meant to be. As I type this now I am doing all that I can to not break down. I have made good friends while here, though I may not always show it. I will miss them terribly, even though I know I will be back. But it's just not the same. I'm sure I'll be making posts soon about some of them. The effects that they have had on my life, and I hope I have made changes in theirs as well. I will try to have some sort of get together before we leave, at least I hope to.

Mixed Bag [13 Apr 2009|06:54pm]

Had a good weekend this weekend. Went up to Beloit, WI to visit my mom and sister. It's been almost a year and a half since I've seen Kelly. She's looking very good. She's lost weight, and she's had some changes in her life that has made her a lot happier than she was when I last saw her. Matt also got along well with her. This was his first time meeting her. I was a little worries cause he has some reservations about my mom and her partner.

When we got home Sunday night, my briar block was sitting there waiting for me. I'm a little surprised and very impressed with how quickly the guy I got it from got it to me. I am really looking forward to this year's pipe show. It will be a lot of fun.

One bad thing did happen rhis weekend, though. I sold my Blackberry on eBay to a guy in NYC. I shipped it out last Tuesday. On Saturday I get an email from him asking me where the phone is and moments later I get an email from paypal saying they are putting a hold on the funds for the purchase because the guy filed a dispute. I sent the guy the confirmation number, and asked him to close the dospute case, but he hasn't yet. I hope he does soon. I need that money!

So not in the mood... [10 Apr 2009|01:19pm]
I have so much cleaning to do today, but I am feeling very lazy today. Wish I could just snap my fingers and have it done.

In other news, Matt [info]mattpup and I are going to go visit my mom and sister in Beloit, WI. Looking forward to the time away, but we really need a weekend to ourselves. It's been pretty busy here lately.

Recommendations needed... [31 Mar 2009|03:04pm]
I was at the library today, working on some stuff for the contracting job I have, when it happened again. !y laptop over heated and froze. Now I have to wait a few hours before I can use it again. I have a laptop cooler, but it obviously doesn't do the job. Has anyone had good success with a specific cooler that they can recommend? Thanks!

I got a call today from a company I applied for last week. They're looking for an assistant manager at their store in Old Orchard. My interview is Wednesday morning. Hope it goes well!

what makes a boring better? [27 Mar 2009|03:53pm]
Nothing quite like some carbs(pasta) and chai tea to make a day a little better. Well, that and talking dirty with boys from around the world doesn't hurt!

I'm scared... [20 Mar 2009|08:02pm]
I only started dealing with it today, as I am trying to get my new bluetooth dongle working with my laptop so I can use the data services on my phone with my computer. But I just realized I have memorized my MAC address of my phone's BT adapter... Someone help me....

Oh, one more thing [20 Mar 2009|03:25pm]
I'm sitting here bored and broke. It sucks cause that means I can't go do the fun stuff . I hope everyone has fun at TBRU or the Black Party. Is there anyone left in the city?

It's time for a change [20 Mar 2009|03:23pm]
Well, I made the switch to Arch Linux over this week. I'm liking it so far. Especially the package manager. I also like the fact that they use more recent versions of programs. The only problem I've had so far is with my webcam, but that's an issue with the Linux kernel itself and not the distro(if you geeky types want the details, I'll give 'em to ya). Now the question is, should I change my user name everywhere? I picked slackcub because of my love for Slackware. Do I keep it for posterity sake(I've had it for close to 4 years now)? Or should i move on? Any and all input is welcome!

A bit of an update [20 Mar 2009|03:20pm]
Well, I got that job I had mentioned a while back, but it isn't producing much. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about getting it, there just isn't that many hours/projects. At least there isn't right now. We'll see what the future holds. It's a back end programming(PHP, MySQL, and some JS) position for a small web development company owned by someone that I chat with frequently on one of the sites I am a member of. It's nice to finally be doing something that i went to school for. Still doesn't pay the bills, though. Thankfully I am able to keep my unemployment, and I am looking for another job.

What Kind of Boots Are You? [20 Mar 2009|02:07pm]
Ok, I had to do this.. But I am a little confused about some of the questions.. The question about where I think I should have been born? Not enough options! And you would think the question about what I wear when I'm not wearing boots would include a "I only wear boots" option! Real post to follow.

You Are Cowboy Boots
You are incredibly down to earth and happy with yourself. You don't pretend to be someone else.
You also tend to be very practical. You don't really have a lot of room for fluff in your life.

You are a very honest and direct person. You will give anyone a straight answer, even if it's a bit uncomfortable.
While you're quite sensible, you always like a little bit of flash in your life. You don't overdo it, but you do like turning heads.
